My favorite thing about Dahn Yoga

…is that no matter what your concernsn or issues are, they can find you a very simple answer.

Instead of observing the many different symptoms of even more numerous types of conditions to treat from the surface in, Dahn Yoga‘s approach finds first the origination of the problem to resolve from the inside out. And of course, we already all know our health issues come from some kind of stress — physical, mental and/or emotional — which end up causing some form of energy blockage, but we rarely take the time or effort to look inside to the deeper causes when a physical condition arises. It’s about time we started looking at ourselves as whole persons, whose minds, bodies and spirit all work together to create the single beings that we are.

Autism VS Brain Education

Autism is one of the toughest disabilities for kids and families to deal with on a day to day basis.  People with autism often use repetitious and self-stimulating behaviors to avoid spending meaningful or intensive interactive time with others.  For example, the child might line up objects on the floor repeatedly, avoid eye contact, watch TV or videos over and over, stare off into space for long periods of time, or repeat particular sounds or phrases. These are the behaviors that lead people to describe autism as a child being in his or her “own world.”  Recently, the mother of a 4 yr. old autistic boy enrolled her son in private BE classes.  After 4 sessions, she has already reports that he is now initiating interactive times with her thru the use of BE exercises presented to him during the private classes.  She is overjoyed to be more effective and enabled to have the mother and child bonding they both need and deserve for a happy life!

My Dahn Yoga experence

Today’s class was very revealing. My upper body, especially my shoulders, was very tight. During breathing posture #5 a wooden pillow was place between my shoulder blades for a few minutes to help open my chest. When the wooden pillow was removed everything felt as though it had melted into the floor. Every muscle was soft and I could fill my lungs easily. Then I was truly able to relax into the posture.

Another happening which I am so grateful for (and so are my kids – I’m less crabby)…by the second week of coming to class, I am sleeping soundly. I sleep through the night, a deep, restful, restoring sleep…a time that I am sure my body/mind have been craving for a very long time but didn’t realize. Now that I am more mindful, many things are changing and changing for the better. Thank you!

Sincerely…

The Heaven of Dahn Yoga

A member shared about how her health has improved from her Dahn Yoga practice.

She had a few incidents of stroke-like condition during which she would feel the whole right side of her body tense, freeze up and become numb. She had lots of tests done and medical treatments, but they could not provide any help.

She has been doing Dahn Yoga training for 2 months now, and she has seen incredible improvements in her health. Even though she’s in stressful situations, she feels herself much calmer, and she can learn to control her anxiety that often used to lead to her body’s “freezing up.” She feels so relaxed and energized from the Dahn Yoga classes, that she says that she feels like “she’s in Heaven” every time she’s in yoga class.

Dahn Yoga exercises for relieving fatigue #3

Another good Dahn Yoga exercise you can try at home: intestine exercises.

Especially when you’ve had a mentally stressful day, or are in the middle of one, try intestine exercises to bring your energy down, cool your head and relax both your mind and body.

You can do this either sitting or standing, but make sure your back is straight and comfortable. Also, if you’re standing, bend your knees slightly and curl in your tailbone (tilting forward and up the lower part of your pelvis slightly, so you can feel a little bit of strength in your lower abdomen). Place your hands on your lower abdomen, palms facing down and keep your shoulders and arms comfortable. Then pull your lower abdomen in as much as you can, and then push it out as much as you can. You just need to make a full range of motion, so don’t strain yourself trying to reach the maximum point of pushing and pulling. :) And keep moving your lower abdomen in this way in a gentle, steady rhythm.

Not only will this exercise help to relieve your mental stress, but it’ll also help to make very healthy bowel movements. :D

Dahn Yoga exercises for relieving fatigue #2

Another effective Dahn Yoga exercise for relieving fatigue: toe-tapping.

This is one of my personal favorites. :)

Sit down or lie down with your legs stretched out, upper body comfortable and relaxed. Bring your legs together, and keeping your heels together, swing the top of your feet in and out. Let the insides of your feet lightly tap against each other in a steady rhythm. You can close your eyes to focus on the physical sensations on your feet, and keep breathing out comfortably through your mouth.

Do this exercise for 5-10 minutes. You will most likely feel your legs and/or hip joints get stiff and sore, but do your best to keep going, and you’ll feel the tension release and your body relax more deeply. When you stop, just remain still, do deep comfortable breathing, and just enjoy the tingling of energy relaxing and rejuvenating your whole body!

Continue toe-tapping

Dahn Yoga exercises for relieving fatigue #1

Here’s a trick I’ve learned in relieving fatigue from my Dahn Yoga classes: foot massages.

Giving yourself a foot massage is self-explanatory, but I’d like to point out some spots you can focus on.

In the center of the ball of your foot, where it makes a little dip, is a major energy point. Keep pressing deeply into this point with your fingers to activate energy circulation through your lower body.

Massage each toe — from the root of the toe out to the tip of the toe. Your toes are connected to various organs, so this will help to stimulate their functions.

Also, press deeply into the corner of each heel to stimulate your bladder meridian and relieve fatigue.

Hope you find this useful! :)

growth….

I joined Dahn Yoga a little more than a year ago and grew in more ways than I can count. I’ve changed many of my self-limiting habits through new activities such as working health fair booths and supporting the Healer Garage Sale; I’ve never been a sign post at an intersection before or learned so many different ways to approach others with the same product. I’ve increased my awareness of nature through outdoor trainings, as well as realizing it is fun to get up really early in the morning! I’ve learned to love others much more through exercises such as blind trust walk where we hold hands in a line, close our eyes, and depend on the previous person to guide us safely through an obstacle trail. I’ve developed my leadership skills by organizing a fourteen hour carpool to Dahnmudo Camp in Sedona with a group of eight; the drive was an adventure and the training in Sedona was wonderful. One benefit was that were all able to practice Dahnmudo during our rest-stops!

It took great courage for me to take action to change my habits and overcome my pre-conceptions about what I could and couldn’t do. Taking action is essential our growth process. We cannot benefit others without actually something.

How is Dahn Yoga different from other types of yoga?

This question seems to be a very popular one among people who are interested in exploring Dahn Yoga a little more deeply. Here is my two cents on this matter.

Dahn Yoga is more than just yoga and is often described as a “holistic health management program.” It’s an energy training program based on ancient Korean energy principles to help to bring your body, mind and spirit together, so that you can experience and live your life fully as a whole person. A good way to look at the practice is not focusing so much on the yoga — yoga is just a part of the program. There are various energy training methods offered — the yoga classes being the most accessible and also very foundational — including breathing techniques, meditation, brain respiration, martial arts, drumming, dancing, energy healing, and many other forms. You can choose from this array of possibilities according to your needs to develop your true sense of self and recover your original state of health in body, happiness in mind and peace in spirit.

Please feel free to share your definition of Dahn Yoga! :)

The importance of your intestines

Did you know that the health of your intestines is central to the overall health of your whole body?

Because your intestines overly the physical energy center of your body — your Dahn jon, or second chakra — if your intestines are stiff and unhealthy, you cannot gather energy properly to your Dahn jon and therefore will not be able to circulate energy through your whole body.

The flipside of this picture is….if you can make your intestines soft, healthy and happy, you can make your whole body become much healthier — improve alignment, alleviate back pain, reduce headaches, reduce swelling and bloatedness in all parts of the body, deepen breathing, slimmer waistline…the list goes on and on.

Most Dahn Yoga centers focus every Monday class on deep intestine exercises. Not only you’ll be making your body healthier, you’ll also feel much more centered, calm and relaxed afterwards. Check with your local Dahn Yoga center for the Monday intestine exercise class schedule.
