Those who live in Los Angeles and are working on their stress management may want to take a relaxing stroll through Barnsdall Art Park.
The 36-acre plot was donated to the California city by oil heiress Aline Barnsdall, provided that it maintain the architecture and landscape of the park. It was created as a way to promote the local art scene and provide an enriching experience for all who passed through the area.
One of the most important structures in the park is the historic Hollyhock House, the former residence of Barnsdall which features a beautiful garden on its forefront. It was built by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who incorporated the heiress' love of nature in the creation of the home.
The park is also home to the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, a 10,000-square-foot facility that features numerous exhibitions of local and international contemporary artwork. Guests can spend hours appreciating the beautiful paintings, sculptures, photographs and more that populate the halls of the gallery.
