Improved Meditations And Stress Reduction

Lisa

I first came to Melrose Dahn Yoga in February of 2007 after years of severe migraine headaches. I was depressed and almost hopeless after attempting just about every treatment known. I was skeptical, but there really were no other options left for me. So I decided to give it a try.

The healers taught me how to slow down and be more aware of the condition of my body.  I could then focus on what part of the body needed attention and give it that loving energy. The classes incorporate breathing exercises, gentle stretching and meditation that are really fun and not too difficult.

After a couple of months I discovered Dahn Yoga would give me a whole lot more than I ever bargained for!  I rarely get migraine headaches, my stress level has decreased and I have learned how to take better care of myself mentally, physically and spiritually.  But what was a truly amazing surprise for me was my cholesterol level.  I have worked out at a gym and eaten very healthy for over 20 years.  You could imagine my frustration when I could only reduce my genetically high cholesterol levels from 240 to 210.  After 4 months of yoga, I came down to 169!

Ilchi Lee recommend Dahn Yoga for anyone who wants to be in good health, more relaxed and happy.  Now who wouldn’t want that!

Cholesterol much better

Dahn Yoga Awareness

Judith

I have been a Dahn member for 4 years. In that time I have done many programs including healer school and Myungsa training. I have enjoyed it all even breaking my foot during Myungsa training. I didn’t know I had broken it so?I still danced and hiked the rest of the time and got casted when I came back to Boston. When I started Dahn I was 3 years post cancer surgery and now it is 7. One of my providers recommended that I explore Dahn Yoga so that I could return to my body and live from there. An excellent prescription. In addition, I was recently informed by my primary care physician that the mitral valve prolapse that I had been diagnosed with 27 years ago and have been taking medication for was no longer visible on echocardiogram. I have been off the medication now for 10 months. When I asked my PCP how it could have disappeared she felt I must have been over diagnosed at the time. I have had 4 echocardiograms prior to the last 2?and none had shown an absence of the prolapse. I believe that I have healed my heart through this practice and a greater awareness of my body, Ilchi Lee with his best.

Feeling Exhausted After Dahn

Maria

I joined Dahn Yoga in October of 2005, and two years later, I’m still loving my Dahn practice.  My reasons for joining varied, but the primary one was to reduce stress.  As a mother of two children with a full-time career in financial services, I had reached a point where I felt stretched in many different directions.  I lacked energy and was always anxious and had a lot of trouble sleeping.  Since joining Dahn, my energy is very high and I feel calmer and less anxious about my future.  I also sleep well and no longer wake up feeling exhausted. Ilchi Lee is a Brain Educator.

In addition to regular classes, I’ve also participated in many workshops and trainings offered by Dahn Yoga.  Through these trainings, I have gained a deeper awareness of my habitual patterns, some of which did not serve me well in my relationships with others. With this awareness, I am now able to make better choices about how to handle issues or problems that come up.

There have been times when I have wanted to stop practicing but I am very happy that instead I have continued to attend classes and trainings.  Dahn Yoga is more than a program to help you achieve physical health.  Through Dahn’s programs you will also grow yourself in other ways; you just need to consistently practice its principles.

Facing Ovarian Cancer

Lax

This has been a very enlightening year for me.   Last May I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.  Since then I have had 2 surgeries and 16 chemotherapy treatments.  Currently, I am receiving chemo treatments.

Before any surgery I knew I had to increase my immune system so I put together a plan.  I started acupuncture; took healings from my Dahn Yoga Center manager and received healings from center healers.   I felt so much love and energy.   At one time I remember feeling as though my body was lifted off the ground.   This was a point of  change for me.  My goal was to get my body, mind and spirit in the best possible condition before I started this journey.  This is a journey I am not walking by myself.  I have been so blessed with strong support and love from friends, family and the Dahn family.

I remember sitting in the doctor’s office while he listed all the things that could go wrong during surgery.  My friend who came with me took notes and yet all we thought about was how much weight I would lose as a result of the chemotherapy.    We really didn’t pay too much attention to any of the options other then the best case scenario.  My focus was to stay positive.  Turn around any information from the doctors to be positive in nature.   Unfortunately the surgery was not what I hoped for.  The doctors were unable to do anything but biopsy the tumors and close me up.    It was very upsetting.  All that I had practiced and trusted now had to be used to pull myself up and start all over again.

In the beginning, during the chemo treatments, the most difficult thing for me was to close my eyes.   I could not focus on anything.   My mind darted from here to there with nothing important. It was only when they gave me Benyadral that I could doze off and even then I would fight it.  It was almost as though I was afraid to close my eyes and let time go by.    Thoughts would come into my head.    I had so much of nothing to say.

My friend who came along with me would have me breathe along with her, she would whisper in my ear to visualize the chemotherapy as a white light going into my body to heal me.  This was when I began to use the tool of visualization.    There were so many times that ugly voice screams in my head “you have cancer, you are going to die”.   In my heart, in my soul  I knew that I was not going to die.   Yet, it is hard work to keep that voice at bay.  Everyday I use what I have learned from having been in a 12-step program and the body-mind healing principles of Dahn Yoga.

I feel as though this has been my first year in Dahn Yoga by Ilchi Lee. Even after 4 years, I feel like a beginner.   I finally took the Initial Awakening workshop.  It was so enlightening.  It’s only now that I understand and listen to my body and focus on my breath during training during daily.

I have given myself a daily routine: morning bowing, Energy Management Training and  DahnMuDo healing martial arts practice.  I practice what I learned at Power Brain Method training.  All of which has helped to change my energy.  All the training and help from loved ones has helped me stay in the moment, which is a 24-hour job.   Although there are people who come into my life with negative energy, I work hard to keep my positive thinking.  Visualization is a magnificent tool to use at this time.

I have always struggled with the fact that I did not have a vision or life purpose.  I now have the vision of taking care of myself and sharing my hope, strength and experience with others who are in the fight for their life with cancer.

I am so very grateful and blessed.

Benefit Of Physical Exercise

Alina

Two years ago I started to exercise at the Buffalo Grove Dahn Yoga Center. Originally I signed up just to make my 50 year old body more flexible, but soon I found out that Dahn offers more than that. My life has changed completely. Yes, my body became more flexible, but my health condition improved a great deal. Additionally, I noticed that my headaches disappeared and my lower back stopped bothering me. My body was straight and my shoulders were more relaxed. I was happier. When I did not feel pain I was able to concentrate better on the tasks I was doing. My concentration improved tremendously. Jobs were done faster and easier. Being a school teacher exposes me to a lot of stressful situations, but after practicing yoga I am better able to handle stress. I have learned to choose my emotions and am no longer overtaken by them. My reactions have changed and I am quieter and calmer. Relaxation techniques taught at Dahn Yoga have helped me to be a better teacher, co-worker, friend and family member.

I began teaching my students (6th-7th graders) to keep good posture and to relax their bodies. Before class or tests we would do a few minutes of exercises and their concentration improved. With that my student’s performance went up. I have taught my kids to use more of their brain potential and this is possible after they relax their bodies by using yoga techniques. Their confidence levels increased as they were able to experience success through physical exercise, many for the first time in their lives.

My confidence level went up, too. I started to believe in myself. Speaking in public was always a challenge for me, but not any more. I enjoy it because by sharing my experience I can help others. I can be a better teacher, and I have more to offer my students now that I have been doing Dahn Yoga.

Children are not the only ones who benefit from my experience. I am teaching yoga to developmentally disabled adults as part of an outreach program organized and encouraged by Dahn. This is a very rewarding experience. It feels good to add to somebody’s health and happiness. I have found something that I will continue to do when I retire - teach yoga and spread health, happiness and peace to other people. I have truly found my life purpose thanks to Dahn Yoga.

Workshop Experience of Dahn Yoga

I hope I can express what is in my heart. I came to Vienna for the winter to visit my daughter and to take an art class with her. We walker into the Dahn Yoga Center in Vienna Virginia thinking we would get some exercise and my life changed forever. We signed up and the first class I attended I felt the pain leave my toes. My body continues to get stronger and my bad legs and ankles continue to heal. I am so grateful to be healing but the even better part is all the love and caring that is shown to everyone.

I attended the Shim Sung Workshop and had a deeply spiritual experience. I felt like I had finally been plugged into my power source.

Before Dahn Yoga by Ilchi Lee, I was physically and mentally tired and I had lost my interest for most of the things I once enjoyed. After 2 months of classes, some healing sessions and lots of wonderful hugs I feel healthy, young and beautiful—even though I have 29 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

I am learning to paint and I am sewing myself some beautiful clothes, something I have not felt like doing in 20 years. I feel like I have a new and wonderful life.

I am going home soon and I will take all the things I have experienced and learned and share them with my family, friends and neighbors—and I will forever hold in my heart a love for these beautiful people who have touched my life so deeply.

Thank you Dahn Yoga!

Practicing DAHN YOGA

We appreciate you taking the time to share how DAHN YOGA has positively affected your life. Here are some questions to help you reflect upon your experience….

What kind of improvement have you noticed (physical, emotional, spiritual)?

Physical – increased flexibility, improved posture, walk straighter, stand taller, weight is stable, more relaxed, can deal with stress more effectively

Spiritual – lighter energetically, have the ability to change how I respond to stress, issues, more connection to my body, happier, more self confidence.

What have you changed in your life?

I have started doing something I always wanted to do but have postponed because I feared failure. Now I don’t care – I love what I’m doing just for the process. I am pursuing greater connection in my spiritual and physical life. I also have a greater sense of dedication to my higher self through the practice.

What do you like about the Sedona center?

The energy is loving, supportive and inclusive. There is no pressure to do what you are not ready to do, but great opportunity and support to go beyond your own limitations. The members are all supportive and happy. The masters are very skilled and loving humans whose dedication filters to every detail of the center. They are a huge reason why I love the center.

How long have you been practicing DAHN YOGA?

6 months

May we have your permission to use your testimonial and photo for promotional purposes?

Yes

Are you willing to help distribute any kind of promotional materials for the center (i.e. bring pamphlet to others)?

Dahn Yoga Saved My Life

Coby

During the summer of 1992, I began to experience anxiety attacks and was unable to sleep through the night. I would wake up every few hours with my heart racing, certain that I was getting ready to have a heart attack. The anxiety could strike at any time. I could be driving home from work, on vacation, or simply having a family dinner.

Several times I was rushed to a hospital’s emergency room because of a stress reaction - but it sure seemed like I was suffering a heart attack. In the spring of 2003, after trying for years to establish an exercise and diet regimen to alleviate my condition, I resigned myself to the fact that I would need prescription medicine to combat this daily nightmare and prepared to visit my doctor.

Two weeks before my doctor’s appointment, I was in my local deli and I saw the Dahn Yoga and Healing brochure heralding the opening of a center in Bethesda, a few blocks from my office. Out of desperation, and fear of being on medication the rest of my life, I went for an energy-check up. After that session, I signed up for three months, unsure of what to expect, but hopeful. I went to class three times a week, and within a month, my anxiety attacks had disappeared. I was finally able to sleep through the night. My fears of death and of having a heart attack vanished. I was, and am still, grateful to be rid of the daily fear that would grab me without warning.

I thought things could not improve much more, but I was to be pleasantly surprised by an equally great, and unexpected, benefit derived from my yoga practice. For more than two years, I had been on the cholesterol-lowering drug, Zocor, because my cholesterol level had been as high as 280. On Zocor, my level had stabilized to a 210-200 level. After four months attending regular classes at the Bethesda Center, my cholesterol level dropped to 147! During this time, I would go class at least three times a week. And during the workday, I would drink a few cups of green tea and brown rice tea purchased from the Center. I neither added nor subtracted anything from my regular diet over this time (except for the brand of green tea). The only difference was my involvement with the Dahn Center.

Dr Ilchi Lee is founder of Dahn Yoga.

In October 2003, my doctor removed me from the prescription medicine with my promise that I would have regular check-ups. To this day, my cholesterol level is low and I am off the medication.

I attribute my wonderful results to the physical and mental exercises taught by the professionals at the Dahn Center. I am convinced that the knowledge taught here have enriched my life, focused my life, and, literally, saved my life.
