Relief through Dahn Yoga(LOTS)
Approximately 7 years ago, I was diagnosed with LOTS(Late Onset Tay-Sachs) after being misdiagnosed for many years, and my condition was rapidly degenerating. I had been treated with medications and had tried other “alternative” therapies to no avail. However, I have been practicing Dahn Yoga for the past three years, intensively for the past 18 months, and have made tremendous progress.
Dahn Yoga goes beyond traditional static yoga poses by incorporating tai-chi techniques and other forms of healing martial-art movements. By practicing this form of yoga, I have improved my strength, balance, and my ability to relax and to focus. In fact, when last visiting my neurologist in September 2006, my results were not only better than the last time I had seen him a year prior to that, but were better than they were when I first saw him in December 2002, almost four years prior to that! Specifically, when testing my strength, 7 out of 9 muscles that were measured had shown improvement.
Dahn Yoga is a gentle form of yoga and all postures can be modified to work around any physical limitations that you may have. To find out more information or to locate a center near you, please visit www.dahnyoga.com. You can also contact me directly at verapeso@yahoo.com.
