Face-to-face interactions key to office success

With all of the evolving technology around people in the workplace, it is easy to hide behind a computer instead of speaking with people face-to-face.

Emails and chat systems are excellent tools that allow for the rapid sharing of information and data but they still can't compare to face-to-face interaction when it comes to many aspects of office life.

This is especially true if there is a conflict of some nature. Chats and emails can come off as passive-aggressive and get construed in the wrong way. However, by speaking with someone directly about an issue they have, people will be better able to understand where their coworker is coming from.

Face-to-face interactions aren't just for conflict resolution however. Often times emails and chat messages can be ignored, causing people to have to wait around for an answer about a potentially important question. It is much harder for someone to ignore a question or request when the person speaking is right in front of them.

Speaking directly to coworkers will put one in touch with the thoughts and ideas of his or her colleagues, just as Dahn Yoga books can help harmonize one's mind, body and spirit.

Yoga poses put mind, body at ease

The time-honored tradition of yoga is less about running the body ragged than about giving it the relaxed latitude to realign itself with the mind. In Dahn Yoga books, these poses come to life through easy-to-understand photo series and written descriptions.

Of course, not all yoga positions are easy to perform. The Providence Journal recently profiled a pose called the Scorpion from a different yogic practice. The posture involves lying on the stomach, lifting one's upper body with the arms and then raising the feet up from behind to touch the head.

The pose appears to be relatively advanced, given that it takes a bit of flexibility and core strength to be able to attain and hold it.

The positions laid out in Dahn Yoga books range from the advanced to the most elementary. In the text Dahn Yoga Basics, practitioners are encouraged to begin with the aptly named "basic posture," which is a simple upright stance that allows the body to be slowly manipulated and relaxed.

Dahn Yoga positions rarely become arduous or demanding. Rather, they pursue what yoga has aimed for for thousands of years – inner flight.

California yoga studio guides members through back exercises

Take a few seconds to shrug your shoulders up and down, then pull them back and down, extending your chest out. After that, if you feel like you've been tensing your shoulders up toward your neck all day, you may be in need of a little effective stress management. A number of yoga studios, not to mention Dahn Yoga books, offer these in spades.

At least one yoga center in southern California is offering classes designed specifically to address backaches and dorsal pain. This class, which meets on Tuesdays and is led by instructor Debbie Berardi, allows people to perform postures while lying supine, according to Patch San Juan Capistrano.

Many such exercises are available in Dahn Yoga books, such as Dahn Yoga Basics, a text that runs through the most essential techniques for stretching, relaxation and stress management.

Many of these positions straighten the spine, limber up sore or tight muscles, get the blood flowing in knotty tissues, increase the energy being sent through the torso and open up blocked channels of Ki, the body's life-force.

Simply taking a few moments to stretch your core muscles and relax your mind can help lower your tensed shoulders and get backaches under control.

Yoga lets the weary take a break from their break

Going on a winter break can be relaxing, but with all of the planning, running around and building of expectations, sometimes a winter trip can make you want a vacation from your vacation. Enter the relaxation techniques that form the cornerstone of many yogic texts, like Dahn Yoga books. After you vacate, these exercises can placate you.

Parents who desperately try to entertain their children over winter break often need a break themselves, according to Chappaqua-Mount Kisco Patch. There are several Dahn Yoga books and DVDs that provide the relief you may be looking for.

The first is Dahn Yoga Basics, a text published by BEST Life. In it, beginners to the discipline learn how it originated, what it involves and where to get started. The book explains where the body's meridian channels lie and how its natural energy, called Ki, flows through them. By unblocking these pathways and learning relaxation techniques, those in need of physical contentment may find some.

A key text for mentally unwinding is The Principles of Brain Management, a book dedicated to making the mind more flexible, balanced and peaceful. By following a few simple precepts, people of any age who are cranked too tight may find themselves loosening into leisure.

Upgrading Your Brain Operating System

Yoga Meditation

Meditation

I see the brain as similar, in some ways, to a computer. Granted the brain is far more complex and can be modified through self-directed intention, which is certainly not the case with computers. However, I think it is a useful analogy to think in terms of the brain possessing an operating system.

Every brain, like every computer, has an operating system through which it processes the programs it receives. If you have not been able to create your life as you really want, then perhaps you simply can’t run that program on your current brain operating system. To do so would be like trying to run a current computer program on a version of Windows from the 1980s.

Your operating system is the system of beliefs and preconceptions through which you interact with the world.
